It is a known fact that shower stalls and enclosures are hard to keep clean. Remember after cleaning to dry the shower this will prevent mildew build up. It should also be sprayed with a disinfectant and mildew inhibitor. Ask your customers to use a towel after showering and wipe the shower down when their finished. Also ask them to leave the shower door open slightly to let air circulate. This discourages mildew growth.

How to Clean a Shower that has Hard Water Stains

Use a white vinegar solution. This mixture is just water and white vinegar; it works well in a spray bottle. Dipping a sponge in white vinegar and wiping it down, too,will make glass shower doors sparkle when cleaned. Loosen and clean soap scum from shower doors easily using a solution of one quart warm water and one cup liquid fabric softener.

Use a brush to scrub if it is necessary for extra tough soap scum. Start with one gallon of water then add one cup ammonia, one half cup vinegar and one quarter cup baking soda.

After scrubbing rinse well with clean water and wipe dry. Some quick tips on cleaning shower doors and shower stalls are as follows. Mix four parts water with one part mineral oil put this mixture in a clean spray bottle. Then you can spray this mixture on the dirt and soap scum in the shower. Using a sponge wipe it off and towel dry. It is possible to remove water spots from the metal frames around shower enclosures and doors with lemon oil.

How to Clean a Shower that has Tile Walls

Start by running the water in the shower at the hottest temperature, this way the steam will help loosen the dirt. Then mix up 1 cup clear ammonia, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 1/4 cup baking soda in one gallon of warm water. Scrub the shower with a sponge mop using this mixture. After scrubbing rinse with clean fresh water.

Steel wool or abrasive powders should never be used as they will damage the shower.

To clean mineral deposits from a shower head, fill a plastic bag with vinegar and tie the bag on the shower head so the head is submerged in vinegar. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Finish cleaning the shower head using an old toothbrush. Clean the holes using an ice pick, wire, toothpick or pin.

By using any of these cleaning methods for a shower the results will be the same. The shower will be clean and free of germs and mildew.

One more little secret that not many know about. Take furniture polish and wipe down the tile walls. This will prevent water spots and also prevent soap scum build up. This will make the shower easier to clean the next time -- but don't get polish on the shower floor! It's slippery!
