How to Clean Windows

How to clean windows to keep your house cleaning business clients really happy. If they ask, "Do you clean windows?" say "YES" and watch the dollars flow in!

Cleaning windows is a job that many people put off until the last possible minute. In fact, many people would rather pay a fortune for a professional window cleaning crew to come in and clean their windows to guarantee that they are streak free and clear. Cleaning windows however, is not that hard a job. And with the right materials, you can offer streak free windows that are so clean, no one will believe there is a pain of glass there! That makes for happy clients!

While many glass cleaners claim to be streak free, they often fall short of their claims. For many people, window streaks are just a way of life and something they must deal with. But it is possible to get streak free windows without effort, and for a fraction of the cost of what normal window cleaners run. To get perfectly clean streak freak windows, keep these items in your "how to clean windows" kit:

• Gallon Bucket
• Scrubber or Sponge -- a scrubbing tool that can be used to scrub the window and get it wet
• Squeegee
• Chamois cloth or cotton rag that was NOT washed with fabric softener
  
• Unscented dish soap that does not contain any hand softener or oils

Start by filling the bucket with warm water. Add about 2-4 drops of dish soap to the water, and stir. Do not put a lot of dish soap in the water, a few drops will suffice. Only add enough soap to create a mild sudsing affect.

Dip the sponge or scrubber in the water, and scrub the window. Only one window should be done at a time, so that soapy water does not dry on the window and become difficult to get off. Once the window is thoroughly scrubbed, take a corner of the chamois cloth or cotton rag and wipe along the edge of the glass to remove the water.

Now it's time to squeegee. The dry edge should be the starting point for the squeegee. This can be done either horizontally or vertically, however whichever direction is used should be the direction that is used throughout the entire process. After each wipe with the squeegee, the squeegee blade should be wiped off with the chamois cloth or cotton rag. Squeegee until the window is complete.

Now, simply take the chamois cloth or cotton rag, and wipe the remaining edges of the window to ensure that there is no liquid left behind. Voila!

Where there was once a dirty, dingy window, there is now a crystal clear, streak free window in its place!
